    History

The Swordsman 33 was originally exhibited at the London Boat Show and launched in 1964. With its subtly flared Sheerline and classic bow its design is synonymous with style and performance

Few names in the world of Powerboating evoke as much emotion and longing for a golden era long since gone as Fairey Marine. For much of the 20th century, affluent and often well-connected amateurs could race their motor cars one day, and their Faireys the next, revelling in the speed, excitement and competition provided by both. Fine summer days were also ideal for excursions with friends and family. Like all thoroughbreds, Faireys were at their best when at full throttle

The Fairey name has been associated with speed, power and performance for over a century. Its origins were in aviation where, during the first half of the twentieth century, it built thousands of military aircraft chiefly for naval aviation. With names like Fulmar, Albacore and Swordfish it was clear even then the sea was already an important element in its business model and indeed the founder of Fairy Aviation – Sir Richard Fairey - was a keen yachtsman
